Shine your Light too
Toen ik in 2019 mijn eerste liedje schreef (Gij schone mens) was ik stomverbaasd. Ik wist helemaal niet dat (ik) dat kon. Ik had toen ook helemaal niet het gevoel dat ik dat zelf gedaan had. Eerder dat ik het gekregen had. Dat voelt met alles wat ik creëer zo. Alsof er een grotere kracht is die dan door me stroomt, en ik daar toevallig vorm aan mag geven. Werkelijk wonder-barend.
Maar het grootste wonder mocht ik ervaren toen muzikant Artur Mena uit Peru besloot gitaar te spelen bij mijn liedje, en het daardoor ook toegankelijker werd voor mensen om mee te zingen. Voor iemand als ik die steeds op zoek is naar diepe verbinding is het delen en samen beleven van mijn kunst en muziek één van de mooiste cadeaus.
Dit mag dan wel zogenaamd ‘mijn solo expo’ zijn, zonder jullie wordt het niets. Dus please…shine your light too en zing met me mee!
Shine your Light too
When I wrote my first song (Ser humano) in 2019 I was gobsmacked. I had no clue I was even close to being capable of something like that. Neither did I feel it was really me who did it. It rather felt as if I was given the song. It feels that way with everything I create. As if there’s this larger power running through my veins, and I happen to be here to birth it. Truly wonder-ful.
The biggest wonder happened when musician Artur Mena from Peru decided to join my song with his guitar. Just like that it opened up for people to sing along. For someone like me, who is always looking for deep connection, sharing and experiencing ‘my’ art and music is one of life’s most precious gifts.
This may very well be called ‘my solo expo’, but without you it wouldn’t exist. So please…shine your light too and sing with me!

when it’s time to recharge
she creeks and groans, absorbs the dark
she dives within and withdraws
breathing, praying for a spark
there she is flying high
dancing with the gift she brings
gracefully passing by
she brings the light, pure medicine
coming from the other side
where it’s dark and never bright
take a breath and hold on tight
fly with her, she brings the light
bringing you the morning light
bringing you the evening light
bringing you eternal light
shine with her, oh shine your light
hear her prayers while down in the dark
absorbing the pains, igniting the spark
moving with care, she has to learn
preparing herself for her return
she’s bringing her warmth to the cool
rainbows of colors to the fool
perfectly fragile, perfectly strong
her glow of vibrations all around
born from the dark, you shine your light
remember to return and shine your light
shining from the other side
where it’s dark and never bright
